It’s Just Life

We all begin in the same old way

As a baby pure and small

Learn to breathe, walk and talk

Sometimes along the way we learn to fall

Our parents try to bring us up

As we grow through our childhood years

Ina way that’s straight and true

Experiencing many fears and tears

As we grow older we become

Like our parents used to be

They’re now older than their years

Just because of me

The Air we breathe, the Sun that shines

We rely on constantly

To help us on our merry way

Throughout each and every lifelong day

Our laughter lines show our true worth

To all that we have been around

Just keep smiling in adverse times

Happiness lives in the lost and found

At last our parents say goodbye

When at last we leave the nest

They look forward to the rest of their lives

That time should be the best

Josie

Josie was a little girl

Whose long hair ended in a curl?

Happy free and joyful was she

Like any eight year old should be

One day whilst playing with her ball

She tripped and had a minor fall

Not thinking she jumped up and ran

After her ball and was hit by a van

To the Hospital she was rushed

The Doctor said her bones were crushed

As she lay upon the operating table

For the doctor was doing what he was able

Josie’s spirit rose high up in the room

Below, she saw what was happening in the gloom

Her Mum and Dad in tears below

Obviously did not want her to go

Up to heaven at this time

To die so young such a crime

So Josie drifted far away

Through the misty moment to latter-day

Now in heaven she awaits her Angels Wings

No more child’s play upon the swings

In heavens playground where she has been

Now she’s older nearly seventeen

She has to complete three tasks to become an Angel fair

But the people in need will never know she is there

Saving poor souls and guidance is her new life

No longer is she in a world that’s full of strife

Down to earth she goes but cannot be seen

To become the youngest Angel there has ever been

Her tasks completed, successfully

She returns to Heaven full of glee

For now she will get her Angels Wings

And with it all the joy it brings

For she will be able to travel down to Earth

To prove her Angelic worth

Her White wings now start to grow

Feathers blossom like falling Snow

As they glisten in the light

As she looks in the water, Oh what a sight

A woman stands there in the reflection in the rippling water

Still Josie, her Mum and Dad’s lovely daughter

Now a Guardian Angel she has become

But will never forget where she came from

Her first task to visit Mum and Dad

This she will find hard and so very sad

When she arrives at her old home

Where as a child she used to roam

In the street with other children who lived nearby

The feelings coming back brought a tear to her eye

She saw her Mum sat in her rocking chair

But her mother would never know that she was there

Then dad came home and they kissed

That showed her all that she had missed

The love that her parents had for each other

She truly had loved her Dad and Mother

Seeing they had survived her untimely demise

She returned to Heaven so meek and wise

For she could never return to see them again

It had caused her so much grief and pain

Now those memories would fade and die

She knew this as she wiped a tear from her eye

Now she was truly an Angel fair

With her lovely white Wings and long flowing hair

In her draping white dress she looked a wonderful sight

A woman now demure and beautiful full of light

As she walked through heavens garden amongst the Birds and Flowers

A place where she would while away the hours

Her thoughts now fixed on all the good deeds

She would do fulfilling others needs

So when you are down call her name out loud

And she will come to you on the nearest cloud

For that is her purpose in life now

A Guardian Angel but still that little child somehow

Happy Melcom

I stand proud and tall in my bright colored clothes

From where I came no one knows

To scare away the birds all day long

With a smile an inner laugh and song

Though I may be made of cloth and string

It’s surprising just what joy I bring

To all the passing Girls and Boys

Who treat me as if I were one of their toys

They dance around me and hold my hand

Me, who stands out on this piece of land

In all weathers come Rain or Sunshine

Malcom is the name they have given me

Because to them I am real you see

Believe me I do really have a heart

Though In reality it is a missing part

But to me I am as real as real can be

So ass you pass please aknowledge me

Because if its windy I will wave back

In between the times when the naughty birds attack

I frighten them away all day

So the crops can grow in every way

The Sun has parched my nose as you may well see

But I have the children to comfort me

They always smile and wave and shout

But mainly when the Suns come out

Because when it raining they hurry by

Saying sorry but we have to fly

But I will still be here today, tomorrow for evermore

Always smiling that's for sure

So always stop and pass the time of day with me

Because remember, you may be the only one that I may see

And the life of a Scarecrow can be lonely at times

My only solace when the Church Bell chimes

Yes I can hear, yes you are surprised

Remember sometimes its hard to believe whats before your eyes

I may look just like a few old rags put together

Standing out whatever the weather

But always remember I have a heart and soul it seems

And bring to life many children's dreams

Everyday Life

Every day is different

In my neighbourhood

My little street called Heaven

Where everyone is good

Or so they would have us believe

But grown up I know different now

Take old Mrs McCartney

God what a wicked cow

She used to drown baby kittens

Her old Tom was responsible for

A big fat Ginger Tom

Who used to come howling at my door

So my Mum bought an Alsatian dog

To sort the bloody thing out

And one day he chased it out into the road

When no one was about

Except old Mr McGinnis, deaf and almost blind it seemed

Who was still driving his Bentley Car

The like of which most men dreamed

He did not see dear pussy cat

A running in the road

Did not brake, Oh dear me

Pussy was squashed just like a toad

Then there was young Mr Andrews

Good looking and quite flash

He used to strut around the place

And always seemed to have cash

But never seemed to work

Except he was always out at night

And I found out the reason why

In the next street that only had one light

He used to enter houses

When everyone was asleep

And being a light sleep awoke

A noise made me take a peep

Because running frantically down the road

Was Mr Andrews in a sweat and panting

Being chased by a bid Rottweiler Dog

Two Policemen and a passer- by which was all he would be wanting

The Dog took a leap at the sight in front

His teeth did make their mark with all their might

A great big hole appeared in Mr Andrews trousers

And his bare arse came into sight

Leapt on by the Policemen handcuffed and taken away

Apparently he used to burglarise at night

And do sod all in the day

This street of ours saw many sights

That I missed when I was a boy

Like Mrs Appleton and her little misdemeanours

That she did enjoy

Colin the milkman, Mr Jones the Postman too name but two

Was giving her more than milk we believe

She would draw the front room curtains when they went in

What went on we could only conceive

Until one morning, one day in May

About the twenty-third I think

When Mr Appleton returned home early a bit worse for ware

And caught them at it over the sink

Out came the dogs lead with one mighty slash

A yell and a scream followed shortly

Out through the back door Colin did run

Followed by Mr Appleton and although a bit portly

Was chasing poor milkman with harm on his mind

The dog-lead a swirling around in the air

Followed by another scream, and another almighty yell

Where Colin had been hit on the backside by Mr Appleton pretty fair

Such was life in a street called Heaven

Memories of my childhood days

That will stay with me for the rest of my life

The type of stories that are only found in  television play’s

Even at ten I had a lasting romance

Young Jenny who was the same age as me, and lived two doors away

We used to walk out and hold each other’s hand

And sometimes I was invited round for tea on Sunday

But we lasted a lifetime, still together you see

And many a night by the raging firelight

We sit and reminisce what it was like growing up in our street

And what it must be like in Heaven tonight
